Children's activities - Merlin's trick

One of Camelot’s many excellent children's activities! As a special treat, Merlin has agreed to show you how one of his famous tricks works. Which means you can amaze your friends and start a magic show of your own. It's called the envelope trick and it's really very simple.

Props you will need.

Before you start the trick you need two envelopes stuck together, front-to-front so you can access the envelope, one of which will include a card already and will be sealed. childrens activities, merlins trick, Camelot theme park, Lancashire

Performing the trick

Pick your volunteer from the crowd and give them a card, same as the card that is already in the sealed envelope. Ask them to rip up the card and place it in the open envelope. Seal the envelope and distract there attention away from your hands. During this time you have turned the envelope around. You then ask them to say a magic word and explain that by doing this they have put the card back together. Open the correct side of the envelope and reveal the complete card.

This is a simple but effective trick that uses easily accessible props and that can be performed anywhere to impress youngsters and adults alike.
